크리스마스, 선물은 그만!!
산타가 오셨네...
예수님이 우시네...
재새례파(Menonnite)의 신도인 한 캐나다인이 시작한 이 운동은
점점 심해져가는 시장경제체제에서의 빈부격차가 선물문화에 그대로 적용되어
기쁨이 넘쳐야 할 성탄절에 심한 위화감으로 힘들어가는 가난한 사람들을 생각하자는
의미에서 시작되었다.

그럼 성탄절에 선물을 주고 받지 않으면 뭘하란 말인가?
좀 유치하거나 낯간지럽지만 대안도 제시하고 있다.

세계인구를 10명으로 보았을때 1명이 부의 99%를 차지하고, 나머지 9명이
1%의 부를 서로 나누고 있는 이 시점에서 조그마한 저항으로 자유무역과
시장경제의 폐해를 성경적으로 이겨보겠다는 이 운동을 어떻게 보는게 좋을까?
생각해볼 문제다.

Azerbaijan - Bloody January
지난 1990년 1월 19일 한밤에 아제르바이잔의 수도 바쿠에는 2만6천여 러시아군의 습격을 받게 된다.
계엄이 선포되고 133명의 무고한 시민이 죽었으며, 700여명의 부상자가 속출했다.

They acted pursuant to a state of ... all » emergency declared by the USSR Supreme Soviet Presidium, signed by President Gorbachev and disclosed to the Azerbaijani public only after many citizens lay wounded or dead in the streets, hospitals and morgues of Baku.
More than 130 people died from wounds received that night and during subsequent violent confrontations and incidents that lasted in February; the majority of these were civilians killed by Soviet soldiers. More than 700 civilians were wounded. Hundreds of people were detained, only a handful of whom were put on trial for alleged criminal offenses. Civil liberties were severely curtailed.
The behavior of Soviet armed forces in Baku must be judged in the context of their actual mission. Mikhail Gorbachev's use of force in Baku was nothing but the desperate attempt to stop dissolution of Communist ruling in Azerbaijan. The Soviet army was trying to rescue the totalitarian regime, the rule of Communist Party and Soviet empire.

버릇
갑자기 생긴 이상한 버릇 하나.
저녁에 혼자서 맥주 마시면서 참살이 해바라기 초코볼 먹기.
혼자서 새침하게 있게 생겼네.
논문 리뷰가 어렵다는 생각이 점점 커진다.
좀더 정리해서 읽고 다듬어야 겠다.

지언이가 "아빠가 제일..."이라는 말에 잠시 가슴이 콩닥거렸는데 이어지는 말..."안 좋아..."
"..."
오늘도 "엄마가 좋아. 아빠는 안 좋아. 아빠는 맨날 혼내."
오늘은 분명한 이유도 든다.
이 사실을 아내에게 말했더니 "혼내기는 나도 못지 않게 혼낼텐데... 이상하네...ㅋㅋ."

가을,김광석
회귀
새벽 3시가 가까와지는데도 잠을 잘 수 없다.
김광석의 슬픈 목소리 때문이기도 하고...
달때문이기도 하고...
김광석은 자신의 노래를 만들지 못한 가수였다.
너무 많은 노래를 받아서 불렀다.
평론가도 자신도 만족스럽지 않았나보다.
청중들은 아무래도 상관없었는데...
하지만, 내가 김광석이라도 참 슬펐을 것 같다.
내 노래를 부르지 못하는 가수.
그래서 뮤지션이 될 수 없었던 콘서트의 황제.
난 콘서트 장에서 끊어진 기타줄을 이으며
시간을 벌던 그의 모습이 자꾸 생각난다.
그 여유로도 자신의 노래를 만들지 못하는 자괴감은
떨쳐버릴 수 없었나보다.
창작할 수 없는 예술가.
너무 아픈 사랑은 사랑이 아니었음을...
그의 노래가 슬픈 건 가사가 슬퍼서도,
목소리의 떨림이 슬퍼서도 아님을 알아야 한다.
그의 노래가 슬픈 건 그가 슬프기 때문이다.
껍데기는 가라.
사월도 알맹이만 남고

삶의 진정성, 가슴으로 싸운다는 말인가?
혁명은 그러해야 한다는 말인가?
참삶은 알맹이만 가능하다는 말인가?
그래서 껍데기는 간 것인가?
유클리드나 뉴튼은 다른 사람으로 대체될 수 있어도
바흐의 첼로 조곡은 절대로 다른 사람이 쓸 수 없다는 말이 있는데
절대 김광석이 아니면 부를 수 없는 노래.

Azerbaijan is surely among the most complex of Soviet successor states, save Russia itself. Goltz enjoys the distinction of being probably the only Western correspondent whose personal courage and linguistic skill made possible this unique witness to the country's first years of independence. He takes us from his "illegal" entry during the last phase of Soviet rule through accession of former KGB chief and Azeri President Heydar Aliyev. As sheer adventure, the account stands by itself as compelling reading, but the scholarly minded will benefit as Goltz moves from the poverty of postindependence Baku through the chaotic war involving Armenia and the "Black Garden" of Nagorno-Karabakh. Excursions to Tashkent, Teheran, and Grozny add perspective with emerging Turkish-Iranian rivalry for influence. But the book's crowning feature is the author's interviews with the republic's three presidents and the reemergence of the opposition "Popular Front" against Aliyev.
